Target Audience Evidence.

Skip The Foreplay get their audience by social networking sites such as facebook, on their facebook there are statistics of how many people like their page, basic information on the band and pictures that relate to the band.
Skip the foreplay also have a myspace account, however this is sightly less developed than their other social networking sites. they have again basic information for their fans to read about them, but few songs and few pictures. They need to better promote themselves using the account they already have, but it works well in getting them their target audience and appealing to them through image.

They also have a twitter account to attract their audiences, this is similar to their other accounts.

For their one and only album cover they keep the same theme for their audience. The same images are used on all their social networking sites as on the cover. this is to continuously attract their audience as when they see the album they can straight away know that this is the band that they're interested in and want. They have so many social networking sites as they are aware that the audience they're trying to appeal to use social sites a lot of the time. They are good with most of their promotion.

References And Inspiration - Promotional Campaigns.

This is the soundtrack for one of the new singles that will be put onto the new album by You Me At Six. However I cannot get the music video onto this as it cannot be played back on this but only on youtube so bellow is the link to the actual music video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxldtR106Sg

They way that they made the video has similar camera shots that I have an idea of using for my own, I think that it shows off the band members individually rather than in a group shot, this gives them each some publicity to show off their skills and traits that they contribute to the band and making of music. Although all the members of the band have screen time they try to promote the lead singer more so than the others, I believe this is to promote better the actual song and lyrics.

You Me At Six have their own website in which they use to advertise for tickets for tours and shows around the country. They also use this website to promote their new releases for iTunes as well as this they use it to advertise their youtube, facebook, instagram and twitter accounts. If you click on the individual icons it takes you to the given website i.e facebook etc.

They use Facebook to promote themselves. They post pictures and other promotional things, like their new music and albums for the fans on facebook to have a look into.

The same that applies to facebook for their twitter, they make sure that its updated regularly to let their followers and fans know what is going on and helps them to better promote their music and image.

Their latest album sinners never sleep, they made the album cover simple. The title of the album fits in with the imagery as the person on the cover is holding the cards that you get when taking mug shot photos for the police, which highlights the fact of 'Sinners'. This is good promotion for their album and songs on the album.

Target Audience Profile.

For my target audience I think that I would be aiming it at teens to people in their late 20s. This would be particularly aimed at those who are into the rock and punk scene, as I think it would be best aimed at them, also skip the foreplay advertise themselves as a metalcore band so this would appeal to people that is into that kind of genre as well. Another reason for this is the nature of my music video of having it as a performance, this would be best suited to young people as they're more of the audience that frequently go to gigs and concerts.

I also looked into the people who like skip the foreplay on their myspace and this also fits in with my target audience, but some of them didn't seem so much as the stereotypical person that I would label to this genre of music.

This is one of their top fans on myspace and one of the ones I wouldn't stereo-typically put in this genre, however this will just mean that I will have to keep this in mind when I am styling the people I want to be in my video and how I compose and make my video.

This person on myspace who are also a fan of skip the foreplay would be more of my typical audience for when I am styling and making the video, the reasons for this would be he is simliarly dressed like the band as well as the tattoos and over all scruffy appearance much like the band. This is also perfect example of what I wish to achieve when I am thinking of costume, I want it to look more like this as it does give an impression of 'I don't care' or like 'I'm free to dress the way I want' nothing too fancy as I believe if I dressed them in suits it wouldn't fit with the music or the audience I am focusing on.

Research Into Genre And Image.

In the band skip the foreplay they all seem to have their own ideas of style, like you have two of them that are mostly covered in tattoos and show them off frequently, whereas you have have the rest that dress mainly covered. However with the whole of the band they wear pretty out there and in your face clothing like bright colours. They all wear skinny jeans and baggy tops with rather ragged old looking shoes, this I would say fits in with the rock and roll theme as they don't really care too much about the quality of how they look more whether they're comfortable or not.

They have their own promotional things like tops and of course CD's. I think the top fits in with them well as its like dark and not only this but has the same art work on their t-shits as they do on their CD, this is good for promotion. Their art work fits in with the sexualised nature of their band name but also gives a kick of colour to not seem completely dark and dingy, I think this all still fits with the genre conventions as they do have the bold colour of black but keep it all relatively simple to more promote their songs than their image of perfection like other artists.

They keep their own individual style here as well, but all mesh together as they all have the same passion for the music that they play, for example in this image they're both rocking out whilst playing their music just like their audiences would do as well. They fit with the rock genre by their stance and image promoted with this rough tattooed and pierced appearance.

References And Inspiration For Music Video.

Skip The Foreplay - Hangover.

For my music video I plan to use a dark room and make it a performance. To bring life to the performance I want to use sharp and bright lighting flashing against the band. I also have idea's to use block colour backgrounds and have the band silhouetting in the front of the colour background. As well as these ideas I have another idea of using footage where they are setting up for the performance but rewinding it so that it looks like they're breaking down the setting, this would be placed at the end of the video as the song thins out and fades to make it look more like the end of the performance with the ending of the song, this will give it a feel of nothing happened here like the setting wasn't wrecked or even played in.

For my inspiration and references for this idea I have the Foo Fighters - All My Life, in the video bellow it shows how the lighting I want with the block colour background as well as this it shows some of the lighting effect that I want in the form of spotlighting and close ups.

My inspiration for the setting up and walking in scene is from the music video for Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer. This would fit in well with what I want to achieve however Bon Jovi put it at the beginning of the video and I want to change it slightly by rewinding it and putting it at the ending of my video.

Another inspirational video for the backwards theme I have is Coldplay - The Scientist, in this video it really shows how I want to put my rewinding at the end to show nothing happened as with this he rewinds right to the beginning before they drove off the cliff and makes it look like it didn't happen, this is the same effect that I want to give to my audience, however with less emotion and more of a mystery of oh yea that never happened.
